It's April now

If you’ve been wondering what RWTH has been up to, then wonder no more. Here is the down low.

First and foremost, we now have a working VAN. We (and by "we" I mean Ian) spent most of March getting our new baby, Lebowski, up and running and tour worthy. We took him out on his maiden voyage this weekend to our show at Hellfish and everything went really well. Now that we have the physical means to do so, keep an eye out for more shows all over the west coast this summer. We cannot wait to start touring.

Speaking of Hellfish, we now have shirts available online through the site. We are restocking sizes at the moment, so by the end of the week, you should be able to pick up any size you want. Just peep the huge link with our hot new model on our page.

More importantly, the Hellfish Comp is coming out very very soon. We recorded a brand new song for that back in January so it should be finding its way to your ears in the very near future. Here is what I am being told the track listing is for the comp:

GRAF ORLOCK-COMMADO live demo
CREATURES-BRICKS & BONES
RESTRAINED-WALKING WITH THE BLIND
OLD NEWS-NEW FOUNDATION
BEHOLD-SON RISE
WHAT LIFE IS-BLACK ICE
RUN WITH THE HUNTED-OF COURSE IT’S DARK, IT’S A SUICIDE NOTE
NEW DIRECTION-TOURETTES
GHOSTLIMB-DOCUMENT

When the comp becomes available, we will be selling it at all our shows and probably online. These comps are designed and hand screened at Hellfish and it will be a limited pressing. Word. Special thanks, as always, to Mike and Ashley Hellfish for putting us up and putting up with us this weekend while we scared their horses and played their warehouse. We had an amazing time as usual (other than battling the man eating dragon insects and fearing for our lives), and we were stoked to see familiar faces and make some new friends. If you came out, said hi, baked us cookies, hung out on the beach with us, or got rowdy at the show, our sincerest thank yous. Southern California has been consistently amazing to us.

As for local shows, we will be taking a much needed break throughout April and May to WRITE, WRITE, WRITE (with the exception of the Geonna benefit show May 17th - Where Eagles Dare reunion! Please come show your support for little Geonna and her family). On top of this, I(Drew) will be having my wisdom teeth pulled sometime in that span (while I still have health insurance) so a break from shows will be wonderful.

When we emerge from our seclusion, I will FINALLY have graduated college and opened the door to a more active RWTH. In late May, we will hit the road for four dates with our friends in Seven Generations and Restrained. We’ll most likely be playing Tucson, Yuma, San Diego, and the LA area. Shortly thereafter, we are playing/booking a show here in Phoenix at the One Place on June 2nd with Wait in Vain (members of TRIAL!)

Beyond that, we have some tentative plans for larger tours in the summertime, but nothing is concrete yet. When we figure it out, we’ll give you guys a heads up.

The newest RWTH interview in What We Have (California Hardcore Zine) is being printed as we speak. Once it’s distributed, we’ll have copies available at upcoming shows.

I’ve also contributed an anti-civilization essay to the local zine Neutral Words. That should be coming out in the very future, and we’ll be carrying that with us too. If you haven’t checked it out yet, Neutral Words is several steps above its peers as far as underground zines go so be sure to grab a copy wherever you can find it.

Side note...Some quick local stuff: There’s a lot of good shit going on. Red Son has recorded their debut full length so keep your eyes open for it’s forthcoming release. Rebuild Records have some exciting releases to look out for too. Antietam is working on material for their full length, which I believe they’re planning on recording this summer. Alarm (Tucson) recently recorded RAGIN’ new material. I believe Dead Air is hitting the studio soon too (as soon as they can stop bickering with eachother)! Like I said...good shit.

I’ve been tossing around the idea (with the encouragement of the band) of making frequent blog postings about our thoughts, views, and opinions on life. Each of us will be contributing in one way or another, but I was curious what all of you thought about the idea. Would you read it? Or even care to? I’d be stoked to hear what you think...

I have always imagined RWTH as an outlet, not just for us as a band, but for each and every person who listens to us. I have always found solace in knowing that other people feel the same way as I do, especially considering how difficult it is for me to fit in with and relate to the larger culture I am imprisoned in. I would like to think other people feel the same way and can find comfort in this comrade re. Anyways, just a thought...

That’s about all I can think of for now. If you made it this far, then congratulations on not letting our instantaneous culture rob you of your attention span :) More importantly, thank you for caring. The amount of attention, care, and involvement we have received from our local scene, and everyone else who has stumbled across us thus far has been astounding. As always, thank you all so so much.
