november

greetings loyal minions,

november is upon us and our tour is about halfway over. it's taken me this long to sit down in front of a computer and organize my thoughts/memories of the last week or so, so i apologize for the wait. we're currently in upstate new jersey with some of jp's fine family. there's an adorable border collie sitting next to me and an equally cute baby rolling around on the floor with her grandmother nearby.

first off, our show tomorrow in york, PA has been MOVED! it is no longer at the emigsville park building. the show is now at:

skid row garage
565 w. clarke ave
york, PA 17401

we're ready to unveil the fall 2009 tour press of our latest ep, destroy all calendars. we made a special run of covers for this tour that will only be available at our shows. i believe a very limited quantity will be available at the glorykid site soon as well. check it out:

look familiar?

on to the tour updates...

after omaha, we played our final show with death before dishonor in chicago. the show was good, but the people were amazing. we met some really great kids and saw some old friends. however, nothing in chicago could even come close to the sheer perfection that was the chicago diner. this was easily one of the most delicious vegan restaurants i have ever been too. highlights were the chocolate chip peanut butter cookie dough milkshake (there are no words in my vocabulary to describe this taste orgasm), the dagwood sandwhich, and the reuben sandwhich. i'll try to post some pictures later for my fellow vegan food snobs.

next up was detroit; the show was moved from the refuge skatesop in dearborne to a basement in detroit super last minute, but everything came together amazing. special thanks to erica and vanessa who made us an insane amount of food and were so kind and generous, i don't quite know how to thank them. we ate off of the food they made us for days. oh, and steve has the sweetest apartment ever.

next up was rochester, NY. the show was held in a small recreation center in a public park, which is actually a pretty clever idea for a show space i think. the show was pretty crusty; lots of punks, booze and cigarettes which really aren't my thing, but everyone seemed to be having a good time so i did too. two most notable things of the night for me: we got to play with like wolves who dressed up as juggalos and brought the ninja mosh like it was nobody's business AND i finally got to see a legendary can of faygo soda aka ninja juice, hatchet drink, juggalo fuel, etc. there's a picture of me being a wicked clown with faygo on someone's phone, i'll try to post it later. everyone check out like wolves, they fucking rule.

also, check out the biggest full stack of all time:

after rochester we played a halloween show in wallingord, CT with hostage calm. the show was humid as shit, but amazing and really fun. lots of kids dressed up in halloween costumes; memorable costumes were wayne and garth, zack galifinakis with the baby from the movie "the hangover," and an oscar the grouch complete with a real aluminum trashcan (which was promptly smashed to shit during hostage calm's set). we didn't dress up but we did finally unveil the quicksand cover we learned for this tour. hostage calm dressed up as slipknot complete with masks and one piece jumpsuits; it was hilarious and brutal. i can't wait to play with them again in baltimore in a few days. we stayed with our friend dannielle in rural CT for the night, and woke up the next morning to a beautiful river and nice weather. we played frisbee and hung out outside for the morning; after a week of long drives and being crammed in the van all day it was really nice.

the next two shows were in massachusetts; the first in haverhill and the second at a college in boston. the shows were sweet, but the scenery is what i will remember most. boston is still one of the most beautiful cities i have ever been to, and i really enjoyed spending time there. a huge part of this tour so far has been experiencing autumn in a way you simply can't in the dessert. i have seen so many browns, golds and reds from all of the trees changing colors... it's been staggering and humbling. there is so much beauty on this side of the country. our guitarist ian had to fly home yesterday morning from boston, and our good friend dubby flew in to finish guitar duties on the tour. we also lost our merch girl and window-breaking friend heidi in boston, as she took a train to her new home in upstate NY. we miss them.

last night we played a basement show  in new brunswick, NJ with black kites. this band was absolutely insane; they were the heaviest 3 piece of all time (trust me, i looked on wikipedia) and they were really nice guys. we all got burritos after the show and hung out. which brings us to today...

our show in brooklyn tonight at the stolen sleeves collective has been canceled. totall bummer, but i can't complain about having a day off in new york city, so we're gonna make the best of it and explore the city and eat some more sweet food.

i'm afriad this post has gotten too long and rambly, so i'll cut it short here. hope you're all doing well; i can't wait to come home where it's warm.
